Hair care

Four Hayato bottles on a table

Original shampoo

A low-irritation wash

The salon shampoo is built for scalps that react to ordinary cleansers. Mild surfactants, including cocamidopropyl betaine, lift dirt without stripping the moisture you still need. Thirteen botanical oils and nine plant extracts, among them jojoba and rosemary, sit in the formula. The lather is creamy rather than harsh.

Gamma-docosalactone is included to cushion hair against the heat of a dryer or iron and to help the cuticle reflect light. Tokyo and Ise are the two daily pairings you will see on the shelf.

Original treatment

Repair you can feel the next morning

The matching treatment uses the same botanical oils, plus glycerin, to put water back into hair that has gone brittle. Five ceramides and cholesterol work on the inside of the fibre so strength returns, not only slip. Used after the shampoo, it leaves hair smoother without a heavy film.

Ask in the chair which bottle matches your scalp. Sensitive skin, hard water and colour-treated hair are not served by one product.

Hair questions

Is air-drying kinder?+

Leaving hair wet for a long time lets it swell and tangle. A low, steady blow-dry, with the cuticle laid in the direction of growth, is often gentler than hours of damp hair on a pillow. We can show you a finish that does not need high heat.

Why does hair change in London?

Hard water and a drier indoor climate leave mineral film and less moisture. Colour can look flatter and the scalp can feel tight. A monthly clarifying head spa, plus a shampoo that does not strip, usually brings it back.

How often should I book a head spa?

About once a month follows the scalp’s renewal cycle of roughly 28 days. Oily or flaking scalps sometimes start closer together, then stretch out.

Will a treatment remove my curl?

Silk refining and the moisturising treatment will not. Japanese straightening, Kerasilk and Silqy are the services that change texture, and each one starts with a consultation so you know what will remain.

Can I have a private room?

Yes. The 60-minute head spa at Betterton Street is already private. Other services can add a room when one is free, including guests who prefer not to be seen by other clients.

Do you offer a student rate?

Tuesday to Thursday, with an Associate, excluding bank holidays, and only when the visit is booked with the salon. The saving is capped at £30. Bring photo ID with an expiry date. It does not apply to nails, Silqy, or some chemical menus noted on the price list.
